Cenote & Natural Pool Attendant

Responsibilities

• Maintain cenote pool or natural freshwater pool area — organic upkeep protocols, no synthetic chemical treatments
• Welcome and orient guests to cenote pool experience — Mayan cultural significance, water temperature, cave system context
• Ensure guest safety in cenote environments — water depth awareness, low-light cave sections, natural pool edges
• Manage reef-safe product policies — inform and gently enforce no-conventional-sunscreen zones at natural pools
• Coordinate towel and organic amenity service
• Maintain cenote surroundings — natural vegetation, low-impact furniture, eco-lighting after dark

Requirements

• Water safety awareness and comfort in natural pool environments
• Genuine fascination with and knowledge of Yucatán cenote ecology — guests ask questions and expect real answers
• Eco-values and mindful presence
• Basic English
• Ability to swim

About the role

The guardian of a sacred place. The Yucatán cenote was considered by the ancient Maya to be an entrance to Xibalba — the underworld — and a source of life-sustaining water.
