Water Sports Instructor / Playa Deportes

Responsibilities

• Instruct and supervise resort water sports — kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkeling, non-motorized sailing, boogie boarding
• Ensure water safety for all activities — monitor conditions, enforce safety rules, manage equipment
• Provide basic instruction for first-time participants across all water sports offered
• Maintain all water sports equipment — kayaks, boards, snorkel sets
• Coordinate water sports scheduling and guest participation
• Enforce beach and water safety protocols

Requirements

• Water sports experience and instruction ability across multiple disciplines
• Red Cross swimming certificate or equivalent water safety qualification
• Physical fitness
• Excellent English
• Calm and authoritative in water safety situations

Work environment

Resort beach club and water sports center in Cancún. Working on the Caribbean beach with guests who are on vacation and genuinely excited to try water sports is one of the more enjoyable outdoor instruction roles in Mexico.

The guide to Cancún's Caribbean playground. A first-timer who has never stood on a paddleboard — who is helped onto the board by the water sports instructor, who falls off twice, laughs, and by the end of 30 minutes is paddling confidently across the calm Caribbean — has had an experience that no poolside activity provides. The water sports instructor made that experience happen safely.
