Work environment

Guadalajara historic district, Tlaquepaque, Tonalá, and tequila country of Jalisco. The guide's territory covers one of Mexico's richest cultural landscapes — from UNESCO World Heritage murals to the highland agave fields that produce Mexico's most famous export.

About the role

The guide to the soul of Mexico. Guadalajara is where mariachi was born, where tequila was named, where José Clemente Orozco painted the murals that defined how Mexico understood its own revolution. The guide who stands beneath Orozco's Man of Fire fresco at the Hospicio Cabañas and explains what that image meant to a generation of Mexicans who had just lived through a decade of civil war — has given a tourist access to the interior history of Mexican identity.
