Administration & SupportHotel Accountant & Payroll Administrator
Boutique cultural hotel or design hotel, Oaxaca City
Oaxaca
Fixed monthly
Responsibilities
- Manage the complete accounting and payroll function for an Oaxaca City boutique cultural hotel (25–80 employees): as the primary accounting professional for the property, execute the biweekly payroll, manage IMSS Oaxaca zone obligations, maintain the AP and AR accounting, produce the monthly P&L, and manage the SAT fiscal compliance calendar
- Execute the biweekly payroll for the Oaxacan hotel workforce: the small, community-rooted Oaxacan hotel team depends on the payroll being accurate and on time — the aguinaldo, vacation premium, and PTU are calculated correctly and explained personally; for indigenous-community workers, the accountant ensures the fiscal deductions are communicated clearly in accessible terms
- Manage IMSS Oaxaca zone compliance: process SUA monthly employer quota payments, IMSS IDSE alta/baja movements, RT risk classification, and the Registro Patronal documentation to the IMSS Oaxaca delegación's procedures
- Manage SAT CFDI compliance for hotel revenue: emit CFDI facturas for room revenue, cultural events, mezcal tasting sessions, and artisan market tours; validate all supplier CFDI; maintain the 5-year digital archive; and support the external fiscal advisor on monthly IVA and annual ISR
- Manage the Día de Muertos peak financial accounting: the late October–early November Día de Muertos period is Oaxaca's highest-demand and highest-revenue week — the accountant manages the advance deposit accounting, the premium rate revenue recognition, the temporary staffing cost accounting, and the post-event reconciliation for the hotel's most culturally and commercially significant week of the year
- Produce the monthly financial package for the boutique hotel's ownership in a format that communicates the property's cultural tourism revenue profile clearly — with Guelaguetza season analysis, mezcal tasting revenue tracking, and artisan tour contribution to total revenue
Requirements
- Hotel or boutique property accounting experience in Mexico; Oaxaca state market experience preferred
- IMSS Oaxaca zone SUA and IDSE compliance
- SAT CFDI, IVA, and ISR compliance at a small boutique employer scale
- Cultural calendar revenue accounting (Día de Muertos, Guelaguetza)
- CONTPAQi Contabilidad; English and Spanish bilingual preferred for the international ownership community
Benefits
- IMSS, aguinaldo, paid vacation + premium
- Staff meals from the hotel's Oaxacan kitchen
- Access to property cultural programming (mezcal tastings, artisan community visits)
- Fixed monthly salary
- Career development in Oaxaca's growing internationally recognized boutique hotel market
Work environment
Hotel accountant and payroll administrator at an Oaxaca City boutique cultural hotel. Full-function accounting management with IMSS Oaxaca compliance, cultural calendar revenue accounting, and ownership reporting in Mexico's most internationally celebrated gastronomic and cultural tourism destination.
About the role
The Oaxaca hotel accountant who closes the November Día de Muertos week — who has the cemetery visit tour revenue reconciled, the premium room rate revenue booked correctly, the mezcal palenque excursion billing settled, the temporary staffing cost posted, and the full November P&L ready by December 8 — who shows the ownership that the 8-day Día de Muertos and post-event period generated 18% of the hotel's annual revenue in a single demand spike — has produced the financial proof that Oaxaca's cultural calendar is the hotel's most valuable commercial asset. The hotel's investment in the Día de Muertos cultural programming, the indigenous-led cemetery tour partnerships, and the mezcal palenque relationships was made on cultural conviction. The accountant who produces the November P&L converts that conviction into financial evidence. The evidence is what the ownership uses to decide to invest more.
