Hotel Controller / Finance Manager

Responsibilities

• Lead the complete finance function for a Playa del Carmen boutique luxury hotel or eco-resort: manage a small accounting team (2–4 people), own the hotel's annual budget process, produce the monthly financial package for ownership, and maintain the full SAT fiscal compliance at the standard required for a Mexican hospitality entity
• Own the hotel's annual budget and monthly forecast cycle: prepare the annual budget in consultation with the General Manager and department heads, produce the monthly P&L with variance analysis against budget and prior year, and deliver the forecast updates that ownership requires for the current-year financial planning
• Manage the complete SAT fiscal compliance program: oversee all CFDI emission (revenue) and CFDI validation (expense), manage the monthly IVA declaration, coordinate the quarterly ISR provision with the hotel's fiscal advisor, and maintain the hotel's fiscal records in compliance with the 5-year SAT document retention requirement
• Lead the hotel's IMSS and labor cost accounting: manage the monthly IMSS employer quota accounting, the PTU provision, the aguinaldo provision and payment coordination, and the labor cost reporting that the hotel's MICE and seasonal occupancy cycles create
• Manage the hotel's OTA revenue reconciliation: the PDC boutique hotel's revenue mix includes Booking.com, Expedia, and Despegar OTA commissions — the controller manages the OTA commission reconciliation, the OTA settlement receipt accounting, and the net revenue reporting that correctly represents the hotel's actual revenue position after OTA commissions
• Support the annual external audit and the ownership's due diligence reporting

Requirements

• Hotel controller or finance manager experience; boutique hotel or hospitality employer preferred
• Full SAT fiscal compliance management (CFDI, IVA, ISR)
• Hotel P&L and budget cycle management
• IMSS employer cost accounting
• CONTPAQi or equivalent ERP management; English and Spanish bilingual preferred

About the role

The PDC boutique hotel controller who presents the April financials to the European owner on the 10th of May — who shows RevPAR up 12% versus budget, departmental labor cost at 29% of revenue versus 32% budget, and OTA commission cost trending down 2 points as the direct booking investment begins to show results — who then presents the June–August low season budget revision with the adjusted occupancy assumption and the cost containment measures already approved by the GM — is doing the financial management function at the level that builds owner confidence. The owner who receives this quality of financial information on time every month has a controller they trust. The trust that comes from 12 consecutive accurate, on-time financial packages is worth more to a hotel's operational stability than any single month's exceptional result.
