Puerto Vallarta

MXN 15,000 – 22,000 / monthFull-time, permanent

Responsibilities

  • Manage the accounting and payroll function for a Puerto Vallarta resort hotel (150–500 employees): combine the hotel accounting role with payroll execution in a mid-size property where a single experienced professional manages both functions with a junior accounting assistant
  • Execute the biweekly payroll for the PVR resort workforce: manage attendance data, calculate net pay with IMSS, Infonavit, and tax deductions, manage the union payroll components (if applicable under a Jalisco collective agreement), and execute the bank transfer cycle with the accuracy that 150–500 employees' financial lives depend on
  • Manage IMSS Jalisco zone compliance: process the SUA monthly employer quota payment, manage IMSS IDSE alta/baja for the resort's seasonal workforce, and maintain the RT accident classification records for a resort with beach, pool, and kitchen risk categories
  • Own the hotel's SAT CFDI compliance: manage CFDI emission for all hotel revenue, validate CFDI for all supplier invoices, maintain the digital archive, and support the monthly IVA declaration preparation for the tax advisor
  • Manage the Jalisco state hotel tax (Impuesto sobre Hospedaje): Jalisco imposes a state hotel tax on lodging revenue — the accountant calculates the monthly hotel tax, files the Jalisco state tax declaration, and accounts for the hotel tax correctly in the revenue line P&L
  • Produce the monthly P&L and whale watching season revenue analysis: the December–March whale watching season premium is the hotel's most significant annual revenue event — the accountant produces the seasonal P&L analysis that separates the whale watching season financial performance from the shoulder and low season baseline

Work environment

Hotel accountant and payroll specialist at a Puerto Vallarta resort. Combined accounting and payroll management with Jalisco IMSS compliance, state hotel tax, and seasonal whale watching revenue analysis for PVR's most commercially significant annual event period.

About the role

The Puerto Vallarta hotel accountant who produces the March P&L by April 6 — the final month of the whale watching season, the month when humpback mothers and calves linger longest before the northern migration, the month when the marine activity revenue and the whale watching tour upsell premium on room rates reaches its annual peak — who shows the whale watching season premium adding 14% to the December–March RevPAR versus the non-season baseline, who delivers the analysis the General Manager needs to make the case to ownership for the whale watching activity investment for next season — has converted the natural phenomenon of the Banderas Bay humpback migration into a financial argument that guides the next year's commercial strategy. The whale watching season ends in March. The accounting analysis extends its commercial influence for the next 12 months.
