Administration & SupportHR Manager
Large resort hotel or hotel group, Cancún
Cancún
Fixed monthly + annual performance bonus
Responsibilities
- Lead the complete HR function for a large Cancún resort or hotel group: manage the HR team (HR generalists, training coordinator, and HR assistants), own the annual HR budget, and report to the General Manager on all people management metrics (turnover rate, time-to-fill, IMSS compliance, and labor incident rate)
- Design and execute the resort's employee retention strategy: Cancún's hospitality labor market is highly competitive — the HR Manager develops the retention programs (competitive compensation review, internal promotion pathways, recognition programs, and working environment improvements) that reduce the 40–60% annual turnover common in the Hotel Zone
- Manage complex labor relations cases: the HR Manager handles the separation of employees under the LFT's complex involuntary termination procedure — the 15-day severance calculation, the IMSS baja processing, the Infonavit notification, and any STPS conciliation that the employee initiates — with precise legal compliance
- Lead the resort's Distintivo H and Punto Limpio certification maintenance: the HR department coordinates the training and documentation requirements for the resort's food safety and quality certifications
- Develop and manage the resort's training and development calendar: new hire orientation, department-specific training, supervisory development program, and management development pipeline are all managed through the HR department under the HR Manager's direction
- Build the resort's diversity and inclusion program aligned with the Federal Equality and Non-Discrimination workplace standards
Requirements
- HR management experience at a large hotel or equivalent multi-unit employer
- Full LFT mastery including complex termination, union contract management, and STPS compliance
- IMSS, Infonavit, Fonacot, and benefit administration at managerial level
- Team leadership and HR budget management
- Spanish native; English fluency for international brand management team communication
Benefits
- IMSS, aguinaldo, paid vacation + premium
- Staff meals
- Annual performance bonus
- Career advancement to HR Director and General Manager HR advisory pathway
- Professional HR certification support (SHRM, HRCI, or AMEDIRH programs)
Work environment
HR Manager at a Cancún large resort or hotel group. Full HR function leadership including team management, retention strategy, complex labor law compliance, and workforce planning in Mexico's most active hospitality labor market.
About the role
The Cancún HR Manager who presents the monthly turnover report to the General Manager — who shows that line-level turnover fell from 58% to 41% year over year, and that the three specific retention initiatives (flexible scheduling for students, the bilingual English-language development program, and the housing subsidy for relocated workers from Yucatán) contributed to the reduction — who then asks for budget to extend those three programs for the following year — is presenting a business case where the cost of the retention programs is measurably less than the cost of continuous hiring and onboarding. The HR Manager who speaks in those financial terms is the one the General Manager treats as a business partner rather than an administrative function.
