HR Manager

Four-star or five-star hotel, Guadalajara

Guadalajara

MXN 25,000 – 38,000 / monthFull-time, permanent

Fixed monthly + annual performance bonus

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full HR function for a Guadalajara four-star or five-star hotel with 200–500 employees: manage a small HR team (2–4 people), own the HR budget, and report to the General Manager on all people management metrics and labor compliance outcomes
  • Develop and execute the hotel's employer brand in the Guadalajara labor market: the technology corridor's competitive compensation creates pressure for the hotel sector — the HR Manager builds the hotel's employer value proposition through career development programs, Tapatío cultural workplace identity, and the compensation benchmarking that keeps the hotel competitive against the Guadalajara MICE and tech employer alternatives
  • Manage the complete IMSS, LFT, and STPS Jalisco compliance program at managerial level: serve as the primary contact for any STPS Jalisco inspection, manage the hotel's IMSS compliance calendar, and lead any labor relations case (including JFCA Jalisco process management) with the legal precision that a professional Guadalajara employer requires
  • Own the hotel's training and development program: build the supervisory development pipeline, manage the Distintivo H recertification calendar, design the Tapatío cultural hospitality training content that gives Guadalajara hotel service its authentic local character, and coordinate the language development for front-of-house positions serving the international MICE market
  • Design and manage the event-driven HR strategy: Guadalajara's MICE hotel sector requires a workforce that scales for Expo Guadalajara conventions, the FIL, Jalisco Tequila Expo, and other commercial events — the HR Manager designs the scalable workforce plan that enables the hotel to operate at commercial peak
  • Coordinate the annual PTU, Infonavit, and Fonacot compliance cycle for a Guadalajara professional employer

Requirements

  • HR management experience at a hotel or comparable Guadalajara professional employer
  • Full LFT mastery and IMSS Jalisco compliance at managerial level
  • Team leadership and HR budget management
  • English and Spanish bilingual for the Guadalajara international MICE market
  • JFCA Jalisco labor dispute awareness; SHRM, AMEDIRH, or CHRP certification preferred

Benefits

  • IMSS, aguinaldo, paid vacation + premium
  • Staff meals
  • Annual performance bonus
  • Career development toward HR Director and Group HR Manager

Work environment

HR Manager at a Guadalajara four-star or five-star hotel. Full HR function leadership in Mexico's most commercially dynamic MICE hotel market outside CDMX, with a Jalisco labor law framework, technology-sector competitive salary pressure, and an event calendar that makes workforce planning a core strategic function.

About the role

The Guadalajara HR Manager who presents the FY people strategy to the General Manager — who shows that turnover fell 8 points to 31%, that the supervisory development pipeline has 6 internal candidates for the 4 supervisor openings next year, that the STPS inspection in March produced zero observations, and that the FIL staffing plan was executed fully on schedule for the third consecutive year — who then presents the case for a targeted 6% compensation adjustment for the front-of-house team to maintain the hotel's competitive position against the Zapopan technology corridor's service sector employers — is doing HR management in the Guadalajara market at the level that enables the hotel to compete. The General Manager who sees the turnover curve trending down and the succession bench getting stronger approves the compensation adjustment. That outcome starts with the data the HR Manager brought to the meeting.
