HR Manager

Five-star or ultra-luxury resort, Los Cabos

Los Cabos

MXN 35,000 – 52,000 / monthFull-time, permanent

Fixed monthly + housing allowance + annual performance bonus

Responsibilities

  • Lead the complete HR function for a Los Cabos five-star or ultra-luxury resort with 300–800 employees: manage an HR team of 3–8 professionals, own the annual HR budget, and report to the General Manager on all people management metrics and labor compliance
  • Design and execute the resort's recruitment and relocation strategy for the Los Cabos labor market: Los Cabos is the most labor-challenged luxury hospitality market in Mexico — the HR Manager develops the sourcing strategy (hospitality school partnerships in CDMX, Cancún, and Guadalajara; industry referral networks; Vacanta.mx platform partnerships) and the relocation package that makes Los Cabos competitive against coastal resort alternatives
  • Manage the resort's collective agreement (if applicable) and STPS labor relations: the ultra-luxury Los Cabos resort manages any union-related matters with the STPS conciliation and arbitration framework and the precision that a high-profile luxury employer requires
  • Own the resort's training and development strategy: develop the career pathway programs that give Los Cabos resort employees a visible internal advancement route — butler certification, sommelier development, language proficiency bonuses, and the management development pipeline that retains ambitious professionals
  • Manage the annual salary benchmarking against the Los Cabos competitive set: ensure the resort's compensation structure remains at or above the market to retain experienced professionals in a market where the top two resorts are in direct recruitment competition
  • Lead the resort's DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) program aligned with the international luxury brand's global standards

Requirements

  • HR management experience at a luxury resort or comparable premium employer
  • Full LFT mastery and IMSS compliance at managerial level

  • Housing allowance MXN 3,000/month
  • Staff meals
  • Annual performance bonus
  • Career advancement to HR Director and VP Human Resources (hotel group level)

Work environment

HR Manager at a Los Cabos five-star or ultra-luxury resort. Full HR function leadership in Mexico's highest-ADR and most labor-challenging hospitality market with a mandate to build the most competitive employer value proposition in the Baja Peninsula.

About the role

The Los Cabos HR Manager who presents the annual people strategy to the General Manager and ownership — who shows that staff turnover fell from 52% to 34% over the year, that the relocation recruitment program brought 28 qualified candidates from Cancún and CDMX with a 78% retention rate after 12 months, and that the management development pipeline identified 4 internal candidates for the 3 supervisor openings in the coming year — who then presents the budget request to extend the relocation program and the housing allowance to two additional role categories — is presenting the HR function not as a cost center but as the mechanism that enables the resort to operate at the quality level that justifies the USD 1,500/night rate. The General Manager who understands this funds the HR program. The HR Manager who explains it in these terms gets the funding.
