Administration & SupportHR Generalist — Boutique Eco-Property
Boutique eco-luxury resort, Riviera Maya corridor
Playa del Carmen
Fixed monthly
Responsibilities
- Manage the complete HR function for a Riviera Maya boutique eco-property: in a property with 40–100 employees, the HR generalist manages recruitment, onboarding, payroll coordination, IMSS compliance, labor relations, and training coordination without a supporting team — the role is broad and requires genuine multi-function HR competency
- Execute eco-property-specific recruitment: sourcing candidates who align with the property's ecological values as well as their professional qualifications — the boutique eco-property's culture requires genuine alignment, and the HR generalist's screening process identifies authentic versus performed environmental commitment
- Process IMSS and labor law obligations accurately in a small-employer context: IMSS alta/baja, monthly SUA payment coordination, Infonavit credit deduction management, and the LFT-compliant onboarding documentation that applies regardless of property size
- Manage the property's seasonal workforce planning: the Riviera Maya's high season (November–April) and low season (May–October) staffing cycle requires advance planning — the HR generalist manages the seasonal hiring, temporary contract management, and the low-season reduction in workforce within LFT severance and contract compliance
- Coordinate SEMARNAT-required environmental induction for all staff: the boutique eco-property's SEMARNAT commitment extends to the staff — new hire orientation includes the property's environmental protocols, cenote water conservation standards, and biodegradable product requirements
- Handle employee relations in the boutique's close-knit team culture: issues in a small team have more personal impact than in a large resort — the HR generalist manages workplace relationships with the empathy and directness appropriate for a small, values-aligned workforce
Requirements
- HR generalist experience; boutique or small employer environment preferred
- Full LFT, IMSS, and Mexican employment law compliance competency
- English and Spanish bilingual for the boutique eco-property's international staff and management team
- Ecological values alignment
- IMSS IDSE portal and SUA payment management
Benefits
- IMSS, aguinaldo, paid vacation + premium
- Staff meals from the eco-property's kitchen
- Fixed monthly salary
- Career development in boutique hospitality HR management
Work environment
HR generalist at a Riviera Maya boutique eco-property. Full-function solo HR management for a small, values-aligned eco-luxury team in the Riviera Maya's boutique hospitality sector.
About the role
The PDC eco-property HR generalist who manages the January hiring cycle alone — who screens 40 applications for 8 open positions, who conducts the interviews, coordinates reference checks, processes the IMSS altas for all 8 new hires, runs the 2-day new hire orientation including the property's cenote water protocol section, and by the third week of January has 8 fully onboarded staff — is performing the complete HR function without support staff in an environment where every hiring decision shapes a small team's culture. The 8 people they chose are the property's team for the season. The HR generalist who chooses correctly made the most consequential individual decisions in the property's staffing year.
