Administration & SupportIT Systems Administrator & Support
Boutique hotel or eco-resort, Playa del Carmen
Playa del Carmen
Fixed monthly
Responsibilities
- Manage the complete IT infrastructure and support function for a Playa del Carmen boutique hotel or eco-resort: as the sole IT professional for the property (or lead in a 2-person team), own the network infrastructure, PMS support, POS support, guest Wi-Fi, CCTV, keycard system, and the IT helpdesk function for a property with 20–120 rooms and 30–120 staff
- Manage the boutique property's internet connectivity reliability: the PDC boutique hotel's guest Wi-Fi is a guest satisfaction critical system — the IT administrator maintains the primary fiber connection, configures the backup connection (4G LTE or microwave link), and manages the automatic failover so that guest connectivity is maintained even when the primary ISP has an outage
- Support the property's PMS and channel manager integration: the boutique PDC hotel uses a PMS (Cloudbeds, Opera, or WebRez Pro) that integrates with the property's OTA channel manager — the IT administrator manages the PMS technical environment, the channel manager API connection, and the daily system reconciliation that the Reservations and Finance teams depend on
- Maintain the eco-property's hybrid power IT infrastructure: the eco-resort operating on solar-hybrid power requires UPS protection for all critical IT systems (server, network switches, Wi-Fi access points) and an IT infrastructure design that provides graceful shutdown for non-critical systems during power events — the IT administrator manages the UPS battery schedule and the power event IT response protocol
- Manage the digital detox program's network configuration: some PDC eco-properties offer digital detox programming that involves controlled guest Wi-Fi access in specific zones — the IT administrator configures the network segmentation (VLAN) that restricts connectivity in the wellness/detox areas while maintaining full connectivity in the business/work zones
- Support the property's administrative systems: the back-office systems (accounting, HR, payroll) require IT support — the administrator manages the user accounts, the data backup schedule, and the software maintenance for the property's administrative technology stack

- IT systems administration experience; boutique hotel or small employer preferred
- Network infrastructure management (Wi-Fi controller, routing, VLANs)
- Hotel PMS support (Cloudbeds, Opera, or equivalent)

Work environment
IT systems administrator at a PDC boutique eco-property. Full-scope IT management for a small, values-aligned hospitality employer with hybrid power infrastructure, wellness zone network segmentation, and PMS/channel manager integration in the Riviera Maya boutique hotel sector.
About the role
The PDC eco-property IT administrator who configures the Wednesday digital detox retreat's network segmentation at 7:00 AM — who sets the jungle casita villas to the restricted Wi-Fi VLAN that has no social media or streaming access, who confirms that the Cenote meditation pavilion is on the zero-connectivity SSID, who checks that the reception and back office remain on the full-access network — and who by the time the 12 retreat guests arrive at 9:00 AM has created the technical environment for 36 hours of genuine digital disconnection — has done the IT work that makes the digital detox product real rather than aspirational. The eco-property's most distinctive wellness offering depends on the network configuration that the IT administrator set up before breakfast.
