IT & Systems Technician

Boutique eco-luxury or wellness property, Tulum beach road

Tulum

MXN 13,000 – 19,000 / monthFull-time, permanent

Fixed monthly

Responsibilities

  • Manage the IT and systems function for a Tulum boutique eco-luxury or wellness property: as the sole or primary IT professional for a 15–60 room property, maintain the internet connectivity, PMS, POS, guest Wi-Fi (in non-detox zones), CCTV, satellite TV (where applicable), and the back-office systems that keep the property's administrative function operational in an environment designed to challenge technology infrastructure
  • Manage the Tulum beach road internet connectivity with resilience planning: the Tulum beach road's internet service comes through a limited fiber and microwave infrastructure — the IT technician maintains the primary connection, manages the LTE backup (redundant SIM router), and configures the automatic failover that keeps guest-facing systems operational during ISP outages that occur more frequently in Tulum than in any urban hotel market
  • Maintain IT hardware against Tulum's environmental conditions: the salt air, constant humidity, and heat on the Tulum beach road cause accelerated corrosion and thermal stress on IT equipment — the IT technician implements the protective measures (sealed enclosures for outdoor equipment, desiccant packs in server spaces, increased cleaning frequency for air-cooled equipment) and the preventive maintenance schedule that extends equipment life in this environment
  • Manage the solar-hybrid power IT integration: the eco-property's solar system has power fluctuation periods at dawn and dusk during the battery/solar transition — the IT technician designs the UPS protection for all critical systems and the graceful shutdown protocol for non-critical equipment during extended low-power events
  • Maintain the property's WhatsApp and Instagram integration technology: Tulum boutique properties conduct a significant portion of their reservation communication via WhatsApp and their marketing via Instagram — the IT technician maintains the WhatsApp Business API integration with the PMS and the social media management tools the Marketing team uses
  • Manage the technology aesthetic integration requirement: the eco-property's design philosophy may require that all technology infrastructure is invisible to guests — the IT technician routes cables inside natural materials (bamboo conduit, recessed timber panels), positions access points in locations that are functional without being visually intrusive, and manages the property's AV system aesthetics in the open-air palapa spaces

Requirements

  • IT systems technician experience; remote or eco-property environment preferred
  • Connectivity resilience management (fiber + LTE failover, microwave links)
  • Solar-hybrid power IT integration and UPS management
  • Environmental hardware protection for high-humidity and salt-air environments
  • WhatsApp Business API and social media tool integration; English and Spanish bilingual

Benefits

  • IMSS, aguinaldo, paid vacation + premium
  • Staff meals from the property kitchen
  • Access to property wellness programming (yoga, meditation, temazcal)
  • Housing support (valuable in the Tulum housing market)
  • Fixed monthly salary

Work environment

IT and systems technician at a Tulum boutique eco-luxury property. Resilience-first connectivity management, solar-hybrid power integration, environmental hardware protection, and aesthetic technology integration in one of Mexico's most technically demanding hotel IT environments.

About the role

The Tulum IT technician who arrives at 5:30 AM after the overnight CFEQ power event took out the property's primary internet router — who checks the LTE failover router (online and distributing 50 Mbps on backup SIM), who bypasses the damaged primary router, who orders the replacement router from the Cancún supplier for same-day delivery, who has the primary connection restored by 11:00 AM — and who by the time the first guest wakes up at 8:00 AM has ensured they experienced no connectivity gap, because the failover was automatic and the IT technician was already on-site before the guests noticed anything — has delivered the resilience that the Tulum eco-luxury promise requires. The property charges USD 600/night partly on the premise that its remote, magical location doesn't mean compromised quality. The IT technician's 5:30 AM response is part of how the property keeps that promise.
