Golf Caddie

Resort golf course, Cancún / Riviera Maya

Cancún

MXN 6,000 – 8,500 / monthFull-time, permanent

Low base + round gratuity (the gratuity is the primary income; USD 20–50 per bag per round is typical from North American guests)

Responsibilities

  • Carry and manage the guest's golf bag across an 18-hole round: club selection upon request, bag positioning for optimal guest access, and club cleaning after each shot
  • Provide course knowledge for club selection and course management: recommend clubs based on yardage, wind, and lie; share local knowledge of the course's challenging holes, prevailing wind patterns, and green reading tendencies
  • Read greens and assist with putting line: the caddie's green-reading input is one of the most valued elements of the service — a caddie who can read the subtle breaks on the home course's greens saves the guest strokes and creates a genuinely helpful experience
  • Manage the cart or walking arrangement per guest preference: most Cancún resort guests use carts — the caddie assists with cart bag management and positioning; some guests prefer to walk, and the caddie supports walking rounds
  • Provide an exceptional guest experience throughout the round: conversation calibrated to guest preference (some guests want company; some want quiet focus), enthusiasm for wildlife encounters on course (iguanas, birds), and service that makes a once-per-vacation round genuinely memorable
  • Handle the bag cleaning and club storage at the conclusion of the round

Requirements

  • Golf knowledge and course familiarity
  • Physical fitness for 18-hole bag carrying in Cancún's heat and humidity
  • English conversational fluency — the primary market is North American
  • Service personality and hospitality instinct
  • Willingness to start early (first tee times often 7:00–7:30am)

Benefits

  • IMSS, aguinaldo, paid vacation + premium
  • Base monthly + round gratuity income (experienced Cancún caddies earn MXN 20,000–30,000+/month in high season from tip income alone)
  • Complimentary golf access on non-peak days
  • Golf knowledge development toward assistant teaching professional pathway

Work environment

Golf caddie on a Cancún resort golf course. 18-hole guest service across a high-volume international resort market with North American-dominated tipping culture.

About the role

The Cancún resort caddie who walks 36 holes on a Tuesday in January — two rounds, two sets of American golfers, good tips — who gets back to the caddie shack at 4pm having spent the day outdoors on a beautiful golf course being genuinely useful to two groups of people who will remember this round — is working in a role where the primary product is the experience. The caddie who is remembered gets asked for by name on the next booking.
