Resort-integrated golf course, Cancún Hotel Zone or Puerto Morelos
Cancún
MXN 8,500 – 11,000 / monthFull-time, permanent
Fixed monthly
Responsibilities
- Execute daily fairway mowing on a rotating schedule across 18 holes: maintain fairway height at 1.5–2.0cm on Bermuda or Paspalum grass varieties; the mow pattern and edge precision are directly visible to guests on every approach shot
- Maintain greens to playing standard: green height 3–5mm; daily morning mowing followed by rolling; cup and pin placement rotation per the course superintendent's weekly pin sheet; sand topdressing and verti-cut operations on a fortnightly schedule
- Manage irrigation system activation and monitoring: the Cancún coastal courses operate automated irrigation systems running pre-dawn cycles — daily valve inspection, head-pop confirmation, and manual hand-watering of dry spots between cycles
- Manage the course's bunker maintenance: daily raking to a consistent pattern (diagonal lines are standard on Caribbean resort courses for photography), edging, and post-rainfall sand consolidation
- Monitor and apply the superintendent's turf health program: foliar fertilizer applications, fungicide rotation, and insecticide applications per the IPM (Integrated Pest Management) calendar
- Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment: fairway mowers, triplex greens mowers, rough cutters, bunker rakes, and topdressing spreaders — scheduled daily inspection, fuel, and blade sharpening maintenance
Requirements
- Golf course groundskeeping experience; tropical turf species knowledge (Bermuda, Paspalum, Zoysia) preferred
- Equipment operation — specifically greens mowers and fairway mowers
- Physical fitness and tolerance for early morning outdoor work in Cancún's humid tropical climate
- Willingness to work rain-day operations during hurricane season (maintenance windows between weather events)
- Basic irrigation system operation and troubleshooting
Benefits
- IMSS, aguinaldo, paid vacation + premium
- Uniform and personal protective equipment provided
- Golf course access during off-hours for personal practice
- Career development pathway toward equipment operator and course superintendent assistant
Work environment
Daily tropical turf maintenance on a resort-integrated 18-hole golf course in the Cancún area. Greens, fairway, and bunker maintenance in the Caribbean's most active golf tourism market.
About the role
The groundskeeper who rolls the final green at 6:30am — still 45 minutes before the pro shop opens — and whose surface reads 11.0 on the stimpmeter for the second week in a row — has put in work that the weekend player who drops a 20-foot birdie putt at 10am will never connect to a crew that started at 4am. The connection doesn't need to be made. The green is the point.
