Guest Services & ButlerGuest Relations Officer & Yucatán Cultural Concierge
Boutique colonial hotel or hacienda, Mérida Centro Histórico
Mérida
Fixed monthly + transport subsidy
Responsibilities
- Manage the guest experience quality at a Mérida boutique colonial hotel or hacienda property: the intimate scale (12–40 rooms) requires personal relationship management with each guest from arrival through departure
- Coordinate the Yucatán Peninsula archaeological experience with expert-level knowledge: the Chichén Itzá optimal timing strategy (arrive at 8am opening to have 2 hours before tour buses; avoid the equinox dates in high season unless the guest specifically wants the crowd); Uxmal as a less-visited alternative to Chichén Itzá with arguably superior architectural detail; Izamal as the yellow city for a half-day color and colonial complement; and the cenote circuit options (Ik Kil, Cenote Dzitnup, and the smaller road-access cenotes that the Mérida concierge community identifies for guests seeking uncrowded experiences)
- Manage the heat protocol for guests: Mérida in April and May can reach 42°C — the guest relations officer recommends 6–9am for outdoor archaeology visits, midday siesta in the colonial property, and late afternoon/evening for the city's markets, restaurant scene, and cultural events; guests who underestimate the heat are a consistent care responsibility
- Curate the Yucatecan culinary experience: Mercado Lucas de Gálvez for the city's best traditional market food (poc chuc, papadzules, panuchos, cochinita pibil), the specific restaurants in the Centro Histórico that serve the Yucatecan culinary canon at a quality consistent with the boutique hotel's guest expectations, and the hacienda dining experiences in the Henequen estate circuit outside the city
- Coordinate the hacienda circuit day tours for guests with transport: the Yucatán hacienda estates (Sotuta de Peón, Yaxcopoil, Uayamón) offer genuine henequen production history, cenote swimming, and colonial architecture that serves the cultural traveler's appetite
- Handle the Mérida heat complaint with specific practical protocols: an apology and a ceiling fan is not sufficient — the officer provides blackout curtain management guidance, proposes the specific hours for comfortable outdoor activity, and ensures the property's air conditioning reliability is the first operational priority

Work environment
Guest relations officer and cultural concierge at a Mérida boutique colonial hotel or hacienda. Mayan civilization archaeological tourism management, extreme heat client care, and deep Yucatecan cultural experience curation.
About the role
The Mérida guest relations officer who briefs the guest at dinner on Sunday evening about Monday's Chichén Itzá strategy — who explains the 8am arrival, the Temple of Kukulcán entrance ticket allocation, the specific spot at the base of El Castillo where the acoustic echo replicates the quetzal bird call, and the cenote at Ik Kil for post-tour swimming — who has arranged the transport and the guide in advance — is doing the preparation work that turns a tourist site visit into an extraordinary day. Chichén Itzá with knowledge and timing is one of the great human experiences. Without it, it's just a large crowd in the heat.
