Hacienda Estate Gardener — Events & Weddings Property

Responsibilities

• Maintain hacienda estate grounds for event and wedding venue operation: rose gardens, fruit orchard, formal terraces, lawn areas
• Execute pre-event garden preparation: lawn cutting and edging, bouquet flower cutting from estate roses and seasonal blooms, setting potted plants in event areas
• Maintain olive, citrus, and ornamental fruit trees on hacienda grounds: pruning to form, harvest coordination where fruit is used in hotel kitchen or cocktails
• Manage lawn areas for outdoor ceremony spaces: hacienda weddings often use open lawn areas where grass quality is critical for event photography
• Coordinate with events team on flower requirements for table arrangements using cut flowers grown on the property
• Care for cold-season garden: pipe protection awareness for irrigation in January–February freezing nights; frost cloth for tender tropical specimens kept outdoors

Requirements

• Experience with formal gardens and estate grounds
• Event preparation and cut flower production knowledge
• Fruit tree and orchard management preferred
• Cold-season frost protection awareness

Work environment

Hacienda estate hotel and wedding venue outside San Miguel de Allende. Estate grounds maintenance with strong events and wedding preparation component through peak season (October–December, March–May).

About the role

A hacienda wedding venue in San Miguel at peak season is producing multiple events per weekend, and the gardener who supplies the roses for the table, who has the lawn edged and the estate grounds at their best on Saturday morning, is as much a part of the wedding operation as the florist or the caterer. The cut flowers from the hacienda estate garden that appear on the reception tables — those were in the gardener's care three days before.
