Grounds Supervisor — Resort & Beach Club Complex

Responsibilities

• Supervise grounds team of 4–6 gardeners and landscapers: daily task assignment, zone coverage scheduling, quality inspection
• Manage wet-season growth control program: June–October requires aggressive pruning schedules to keep bougainvillea, hibiscus, and tropical shrubs within maintained form rather than uncontrolled growth
• Direct hurricane preparation operations: coordinate team for pre-storm landscape preparation (tying down loose containers, removing dead wood, securing young plantings) and post-storm recovery
• Oversee chemical input schedule: apply pesticide and fungicide treatments preventively through humid season; manage herbicide use in non-guest zones per STPS requirements
• Coordinate hillside erosion management where applicable: Vallarta's steep terrain means wet-season runoff creates erosion risk in planted slopes — direct team on drainage and slope planting maintenance
• Plan peak-season landscape refresh: September–October is the preparation window for December–April high occupancy; direct team on replanting, renovation, and presentation improvement tasks
• Manage plant procurement from local Jalisco and Nayarit nurseries; track departmental spending

Requirements

• 4+ years hotel landscaping in tropical environment with team supervision
• Wet-season growth management and pruning cycle planning
• Hurricane preparation and recovery operations
• Slope/hillside erosion management awareness preferred
• Budget tracking and nursery procurement coordination
