Electrician — Off-Grid & Hybrid Systems

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain hybrid power systems: solar PV array, battery storage bank, inverter/charger systems, CFE grid connection, backup diesel generator
• Monitor daily energy production and consumption data; optimize battery charging cycles
• Maintain all standard hotel electrical systems alongside off-grid infrastructure
• Conceal electrical runs in open-air structures — exposed conduit is incompatible with Tulum's design aesthetic; creative routing required
• Weatherproof all outdoor electrical to jungle-humidity standard — tropical moisture intrusion is the primary failure mode for outdoor electrical in Tulum
• Train and support general maintenance team on safe procedures around battery bank and inverter room

Requirements

• Formal electrical training plus hands-on solar and battery storage experience — mandatory
• Inverter system experience (SMA, Victron, Fronius, or equivalent)
• Comfort with off-grid power system monitoring software
• Self-directed and technically proactive

About the role

Off-grid hotel electrical is not standard electrical work — it's energy management. The electrician who can look at a battery bank's state of charge at 6 p.m., estimate the overnight load, decide whether the generator needs to pre-charge the system or the batteries will hold through the night — is making engineering decisions that directly affect the guest experience and the property's operating costs.
