HVAC Technician — Ultra-Luxury Resort

Responsibilities

• Maintain VRF and fan coil HVAC systems across a five-star resort operating in extreme desert heat
• Manage high-ambient-temperature condenser performance — peak summer conditions push residential and light commercial condensers beyond design limits; hotel-grade equipment requires close monitoring
• Perform enhanced PM frequency in summer months: filter and coil service monthly rather than quarterly
• Manage refrigerant pressures in high ambient conditions — refrigerant head pressures run significantly higher at 45°C ambient than at standard design conditions
• Maintain spa cooling systems: treatment rooms require precise temperature control independent of ambient conditions outside
• Coordinate with Central Plant technician (where applicable) on chilled water system performance during peak demand

Requirements

• HVAC experience with high-ambient-temperature operation knowledge
• EC0152 certification — mandatory
• VRF or fan coil system diagnostics
• Luxury property maintenance standard

About the role

At 46°C ambient in August in Cabo, a split-system air conditioner is operating at the edge of its thermal envelope. The technician who understands what that means — who knows to check head pressure more frequently, who adjusts PM schedules to the climate rather than the manufacturer's standard recommendations — is applying engineering judgment that extends equipment life and prevents failures during the most critical operating period.
