Painter & Carpenter

Responsibilities

• Execute room refresh program: paint touch-ups and full repaints between deep clean cycles; spackle, sand, and finish walls to hotel standard
• Repair and restore wooden furniture: loose joints, broken components, surface refinishing on chairs, tables, headboards, nightstands
• Maintain exterior woodwork with salt-resistant sealers on regular schedule — untreated exterior wood deteriorates visibly within months in the Zona Hotelera
• Handle carpentry repairs across resort: door adjustments, cabinet hardware, wardrobe interiors, bathroom fixture surrounds
• Apply and maintain anti-salt exterior paint systems on building facades and outdoor structures
• Coordinate with housekeeping on room availability for painting work during guest rotations

Requirements

• Hotel painting and carpentry experience; Caribbean coast hotel environment preferred
• Knowledge of salt-resistant coatings and exterior wood sealing systems
• Ability to work efficiently in occupied resort environment with minimal disruption
• Rotating shift flexibility

About the role

In a Cancún resort, paint and wood finishes are always losing ground to the environment. The painter-carpenter's job is to stay ahead of that deterioration cycle — to repaint before the salt damage shows through to guests, to seal the teak before the UV strips its finish, to fix the warped drawer before the guest notices. It's preventive craft work, and it directly protects the property's visual quality.
