Responsibilities

• Welcome and assist guests in hotel boutique or artisan shop — knowledgeable, culturally generous, authentic
• Sell Oaxacan artisan products across the full regional range — Teotitlán del Valle hand-woven rugs (natural cochineal and indigo dyes), San Bartolo Coyotepec barro negro ceramics, Arrazola and San Martín Tilcajete copal wood alebrijes, artisan mezcal bottles, hand-embroidered garments from the Tlacolula valley communities
• Provide complete regional provenance — which village, which family tradition, which materials, which technique
• Distinguish authentic artisan production from factory imitation — Oaxaca's tourist market has significant imitation product; the honest associate who can identify authenticity builds immediate guest trust
• Advise on mezcal selection — artisan mezcal variety (espadín, tobalá, tepeztate, madrecuixe) requires genuine product knowledge for useful recommendations
• Process sales and coordinate shipping for large or fragile pieces — barro negro ceramics and large woven rugs require careful packaging

Requirements

• Deep Oaxacan artisan knowledge — across textiles, ceramics, woodwork, mezcal, and regional food categories
• Basic to conversational English — Oaxacan boutique retail serves predominantly international cultural tourists
