OPC / Member Relations Contact — Cultural Tourism & Hacienda Circuit

Vacation club with Mérida guest contact operations (product based in Riviera Maya or coastal destination)

Mérida

MXN 7,000 – 120 / monthFull-time, permanent

Base + per-tour commission

Responsibilities

  • Approach guests at Mérida's main tourist zones: the historic Centro Histórico, Paseo de Montejo, Parque Santa Lucía, and the high-end hacienda hotel properties on the city's perimeter
  • Qualify for the coastal vacation club product: Mérida guests who are traveling in a Yucatán itinerary that includes Cancún, Playa del Carmen, or the Riviera Maya are the primary qualifying target — the vacation club presentation will occur in the coastal city
  • Identify the North American retiree and snowbird demographic living part-year in Mérida: this growing community represents a particularly strong prospect base for vacation club membership because they are already committed to spending significant time in Mexico annually
  • Present the invitation as a preview of an exclusive coastal resort membership: be transparent that the presentation takes place at the coastal property rather than in Mérida; coordinate with guest's travel schedule
  • For guests who do not have a coastal leg in their current trip, collect contact information for follow-up and refer to the coastal OPC team if the guest will be returning to Mexico
  • Manage a smaller daily quota than resort-based OPC positions — Mérida's volume is lower, but per-tour commission reflects reduced competition for qualified contacts

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently in a low-volume OPC market without the infrastructure of a large resort operation
  • Understanding of the Mérida tourism culture — hard-sell approach style is completely wrong for this market and will result in formal complaints
  • English fluency for the North American expat and retiree demographic
  • Organizational skill for remote contact referral to coastal OPC teams

Benefits

  • IMSS, aguinaldo, paid vacation + premium
  • Per-tour commission with Mérida market adjustment
  • Transport support within the city MXN 400/month
  • Meal allowance during shift

Work environment

Colonial city tourist zones in Mérida: the Centro Histórico, Paseo de Montejo, and hacienda hotel properties. Relationship-paced OPC work in a cultural tourism destination where approach style must reflect the city's sophisticated, non-resort atmosphere.

About the role

The Mérida OPC who approaches a couple from Phoenix at a table on Paseo de Montejo the same way an OPC would approach a couple at a Cancún pool deck will fail here, and probably generate a complaint. The Mérida guest has chosen a colonial city over a beach resort — that choice signals something about who they are. The OPC who spends ten minutes genuinely discussing what they've seen at Chichén Itzá, what their plans are for the Riviera Maya leg of the trip, whether they've stayed at a hacienda before — and who mentions the vacation club preview only when it feels genuinely relevant to that conversation — is doing OPC work in the way that this market requires.
