OPC — Malecón & Romantic Zone Tourist Contact

Responsibilities

• Work designated OPC zones along Puerto Vallarta's Malecón boardwalk and the Romantic Zone / Emiliano Zapata tourist area: approach couples and families browsing, dining, and sightseeing in the city's most active tourist corridors
• Qualify on foot-traffic: Malecón guests include a mix of cruise ship day visitors (typically non-qualifying — insufficient time for 90-minute presentation), resort hotel guests (qualifying), and Puerto Vallarta residents (non-qualifying); accurate rapid sorting between these groups is the core OPC skill in this zone
• Identify cruise ship days on the calendar and adjust approach: cruise day foot traffic is high volume but low conversion; focus energy on hotel guests during cruise days
• Arrange transport to the vacation club property for qualified guests who accept the invitation: Malecón-to-hotel-zone transport coordination is a consistent part of this role
• Meet daily tour count set by OPC team lead; report qualification challenges when demographic mix is unfavorable
• Maintain professional conduct in public areas governed by the city's OPC licensing zone rules

Requirements

• Experience in street or public-area direct contact work
• Ability to distinguish cruise day tourists from hotel resort guests quickly and accurately
• English fluency; Spanish native; ideally a European language
• Physical stamina for outdoor work on the Malecón in PVR's humidity and heat (June–November)

About the role

The Malecón on a Tuesday when there's no cruise ship is one of the best OPC environments in Mexico: hotel guests relaxed and walking, mixed couples from the US and Canada, nobody in a rush. The Malecón on a Thursday with two ships in port is a different challenge — high volume, low qualification rate, and a lot of people who have four hours in the city and no interest in a 90-minute presentation. Knowing which day you're working on changes everything about how you approach the zone.
