Hotel Security Officer

Responsibilities

• Monitor and control luxury boutique hotel or hacienda access — entrance gate, garden terraces, guest corridors, parking
• Conduct discreet patrols appropriate to colonial hacienda property layouts — courtyards, terraces, gardens, room wings
• Manage wedding and event security — access control for external event guests, crowd management during large celebrations, vendor access management
• Conduct overnight security at altitude (1,870m) — SMA's highland climate requires appropriate preparation for night patrols
• Respond to incidents with composure and discretion — SMA's wedding and luxury tourism guests require entirely invisible security management
• Operate CCTV and alarm systems
• Coordinate with wedding coordinators on event security requirements

Requirements

• STASPE certification
• Clean background record
• Physical fitness for outdoor patrol at 1,870m altitude — acclimatization required
• Basic English — SMA's predominantly North American and international guests require basic bilingual communication
• Composure and event management judgment — wedding and event security is complex interpersonal work
• Discretion in incident management

The destination wedding at a San Miguel hacienda — 120 guests from the United States, over three days, in a property with open gardens and multiple terraces — requires security that is present everywhere and visible nowhere. The officer who manages vendor access, monitors the perimeter during the ceremony, quietly handles the drunk groomsman at 1am without waking the bride's parents, and hands the property back to management the next morning with zero incidents reported — has done event security work at its most professionally demanding.
