Beach & Pool Lifeguard

Responsibilities

• Monitor resort Banderas Bay beachfront and pool areas
• Assess daily Pacific/Banderas Bay conditions — swell height, current presence, shore break assessment, storm swell advisory communication
• Maintain beach flag system — consistent color flag communication for PV's predominantly North American guest base
• Enforce safe swimming zone boundaries — buoy line integrity, jet ski and motorized water sports separation from swimming zones
• Respond to aquatic emergencies in pool and open water — Banderas Bay's size requires open water rescue capability
• Conduct whale watching season water traffic awareness (December–March) — increased boat activity near beach areas
• Operate pool surveillance alongside beach monitoring at dual-facility resort properties
• Brief guests on Banderas Bay swimming conditions and Pacific surf awareness

Requirements

• Cruz Roja or RLSS lifeguard certification — open water endorsement preferred
• Pacific coastal and Banderas Bay current knowledge
• Strong swimming ability across both pool and open water environments
• Basic English — PV guests are predominantly North American
• Physical fitness for active outdoor work in PV's tropical climate
• Current CPR and first aid

About the role

The guardian of the world's second-largest bay. Banderas Bay stretches 42km across — visible horizon to horizon from most PV resort beaches. The PV lifeguard who knows the bay's specific current patterns, who understands that the north wind creates a westward longshore drift at specific times of year, who has conducted rescues in conditions that guests never recognized as dangerous — has developed Pacific coastal knowledge that is genuinely expert and genuinely earned through years of watching the same water every working day.
