About the role
The first Yucatecan welcome. Mérida in July is 38°C with 80% humidity — and the North American cultural tourist who steps out of the airport terminal into that wall of heat for the first time is having a physical experience that is genuinely unlike any they've had before. The driver who opens a perfectly air-conditioned vehicle, offers cold water, and says "it feels extreme but you adjust quickly — and the cenotes are the best natural air conditioning in the world" has defused the heat shock and introduced the destination's greatest natural asset in one sentence.
