About the role
The engine of the Yucatán excursion industry. Chichén Itzá receives over 3 million visitors annually — and a large proportion arrive on excursion buses from Cancún resorts. The driver who delivers 48 guests safely to the site by 9am, who waits patiently through the 3-hour guided tour, who has cold water loaded and music playing softly when they return hot and tired — has created the comfort infrastructure that makes the tour experience possible. The archaeology gets the glory; the driver makes the archaeology accessible.
