Dive Instructor / Snorkel Guide — Multi-Activity Water Sports

Responsibilities

• Lead catamaran snorkeling and basic scuba tours to Cancún's reef and MUSA sites: the catamaran tour format combines snorkeling for non-divers with a supervised shallow scuba experience for willing participants — the instructor manages both groups simultaneously with assistants
• Conduct DSD activities in the catamaran tour format: brief participants on basic scuba underwater communication, manage the underwater experience at shallow depth (3–5m) with maximum 2 participants per instructor, and return all guests safely to the boat
• Lead snorkeling instruction for non-diving tour participants: proper snorkel technique, mask clearing, and marine life identification for guests who choose to snorkel while others dive
• Support the catamaran operation: help with tour briefing, life jacket distribution, sunscreen application guidance (reef-safe only), and boat safety procedures
• Identify and report marine life sightings: sea turtle, eagle ray, and nurse shark sightings are highlights for guests — the guide who can identify and communicate these encounters adds significant value to the tour experience
• Follow reef-safe sunscreen enforcement: Cancún's reef tour operators are required to enforce reef-safe sunscreen for all participants who enter the water — the guide confirms compliance before water entry

Requirements

• PADI Divemaster or Instructor; strong swimmer and snorkeling guide
• Reef-safe sunscreen and reef protection protocol knowledge
• Confident, engaging guide presentation in English and Spanish
• Marine biology identification knowledge for common Mesoamerican Reef species
• Physical fitness for repeated daily water entry and exit from catamaran platform
