Weddings & EventsBanquet Operations Manager — Resort & Beach Club Events
Full-service resort or beach club, Puerto Vallarta Hotel Zone and Nuevo Vallarta
Puerto Vallarta
Fixed monthly
Responsibilities
- Lead banquet operations across the resort's full event calendar: beach weddings, garden receptions, ballroom corporate dinners, beach club social events, and holiday gala programs are all within scope
- Manage weather contingency operations specific to PVR's climate: June–November hurricane season requires active outdoor event monitoring, rapid weather response protocols, and pre-positioned indoor contingency spaces with their own operational readiness plans
- Coordinate multi-venue event operations during peak season: a large PVR resort may run 3–4 events simultaneously during the December–March high season — the manager assigns team coverage, monitors each space, and is the real-time authority on service quality and operational issues across all
- Develop Spanish-English bilingual team briefing practice: the PVR banquet team serves both domestic Mexican events and international destination weddings within the same property — service briefings must communicate effectively in both languages
- Manage whale watching season incentive banquet integration (November–March): corporate groups that include whale watching excursions in their program require return banquet service that accommodates the variable timing of Banderas Bay boat excursions — contingency meal service and flexible kitchen coordination are standard practice in this season
- Lead team training on PVR-specific guest demographics: the international beach resort guest, the domestic Mexican wedding party, and the corporate North American incentive group each have distinct service expectations — the team that can read and adapt to each profile provides a notably better experience than one working from a single service template
Requirements
- 3+ years banquet management with multi-venue and multi-segment event experience
- Hurricane season operational management and weather contingency deployment
- Bilingual team leadership and communication in Spanish and English
- Multi-event simultaneous supervision capability
- PVR seasonal and demographic knowledge
Benefits
- IMSS, aguinaldo, paid vacation + premium
- Fixed monthly salary
- Resort dining and staff facilities access
- Career track to F&B Manager or Events Operations Director
Work environment
Multi-venue banquet operations at a Puerto Vallarta resort. Multi-segment, multi-event management in one of Mexico's most climatically and commercially diverse destination events markets.
About the role
The PVR banquet manager who comes off a 14-hour Saturday that included a beach wedding in the afternoon, a corporate cocktail reception in the marina bar at sunset, and a quinceañera in the ballroom that ran until 2am — and who is on the floor at 7am Sunday for the farewell brunch setup — is accumulating event management experience at a rate and breadth that makes PVR one of the best training grounds for senior F&B leadership in Mexico.
