Events Sales Executive — Hacienda & Cultural Destination Weddings

Hacienda event venue group or colonial hotel, Mérida and metropolitan Yucatán

Mérida

MXN 12,500 – 1,800 / monthFull-time, permanent

Base + transport + per-contract commission + seasonal revenue bonus

Responsibilities

  • Manage event sales across a hacienda property group and colonial hotel venues in Mérida: the salesperson serves both the domestic Yucatecan celebration market and the growing international destination wedding market seeking an alternative to coastal or San Miguel venues
  • Conduct compelling site inspections at hacienda properties: the 19th-century henequen industrial architecture — the steam towers, the fiber press halls, the colonial chapel courtyards, the limestone pool cenotes — is the product; the site inspection must make that architecture come alive as an event venue
  • Develop the international destination wedding market: the couple choosing Mérida over Cancún or SMA is making a specific values choice — they want something genuinely unusual, culturally specific, and architecturally dramatic; the salesperson who positions the hacienda wedding experience in those terms is talking to the right buyer in the right language
  • Coordinate with tourism board and international travel media relationships: Mérida's Tourism Board has been actively marketing the city internationally; the Events Sales Executive who builds relationships with the MITUR Yucatán promotional network receives referral inquiries from this channel
  • Manage extreme heat event timing consultations for incoming international clients: international couples who haven't experienced Mérida's April–May heat must be accurately informed and guided to ceremony timing that protects their guests — the salesperson who provides honest, detailed climate guidance builds trust before the contract is signed
  • Report pipeline and monthly event revenue to the venue management team

Requirements

  • Hospitality sales experience with hacienda or cultural heritage venue knowledge
  • English fluency for international destination wedding market; Spanish native for domestic Yucatecan market
  • Knowledge of Mérida's extreme heat logistics and ability to communicate them honestly and helpfully
  • Yucatecan hacienda venue portfolio and vendor relationship familiarity
  • Virtual site inspection capability for international clients who cannot travel before booking

Benefits

  • IMSS, aguinaldo, paid vacation + premium
  • Transport support MXN 500/month
  • Base + per-contract commission + seasonal revenue bonus
  • Career development in one of Mexico's fastest-growing destination wedding markets
  • Access to hacienda property facilities and cultural events

Work environment

Hacienda and colonial venue events sales in Mérida and Yucatán. Domestic and international destination wedding commercial development in one of Mexico's most architecturally distinctive regional markets.

About the role

The New York couple who found the Mérida hacienda through a New York Times travel article, sent an inquiry, and received a proposal with 12 photographs of the henequen processing hall at golden hour, an honest paragraph about what April temperatures feel like and how the property manages them, and a specific description of the Mayan fire ceremony option — was reading a proposal from someone who knew their venue and their destination better than any generic marketing document could convey. The specificity of the knowledge builds the trust that converts the inquiry into a signed contract.
