Wedding & Events Coordinator — Hacienda & Cultural Venue Specialist

Historic hacienda event venue or boutique hotel, Mérida and metropolitan Yucatán

Mérida

MXN 13,500 – 19,000 / monthFull-time, permanent

Fixed monthly + transport support + gratuity income

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate weddings and private celebrations at Mérida's historic hacienda properties and colonial hotel venues: hacienda weddings in Yucatán often involve properties located 30–60 minutes outside the city, with the henequen processing infrastructure — arches, machinery halls, and century-old stone courtyards — repurposed as dramatic ceremony and reception spaces
  • Develop deep knowledge of the Yucatecan artisanal vendor ecosystem: local hammock weavers for décor elements, Mayan ceramic artists for table settings, huipil-inspired textile design, Yucatecan cuisine specialists for menu development, and regional jarana musicians for entertainment
  • Coordinate Mayan ceremonial elements where requested by couples: engagement with Mayan cultural practitioners for fire ceremony elements, copal incense, and traditional blessing rituals requires advance cultural consultation and specific logistics
  • Manage hacienda property logistics: historic haciendas have specific electrical capacity, water access limitations, and kitchen infrastructure constraints that the coordinator must assess during venue siting visits and plan around
  • Navigate Mérida's extreme heat protocols: Mérida regularly reaches 38–42°C in April–May; outdoor wedding timing must respect guest comfort, floral preservation, and catering team working conditions — late afternoon ceremony timing with high-quality fan and misting system coordination is standard practice
  • Coordinate transport logistics for hacienda weddings: guest shuttle service from Mérida hotels to hacienda properties 30–60 minutes distant, vendor access routes, and vendor arrival sequencing at properties with limited access roads

Requirements

  • Event coordination experience; hacienda or cultural heritage venue experience preferred
  • Understanding of Yucatecan cultural wedding customs and regional artisanal resources
  • Extreme heat event planning experience (Mérida's climate is among the hottest in Mexico)
  • Spanish native; English professional; ideally a European language for international destination wedding clients
  • Transportation and logistics coordination for hacienda events outside the city

Benefits

  • IMSS, aguinaldo, paid vacation + premium
  • Transport support MXN 500/month
  • Fixed monthly + gratuity from hacienda wedding parties
  • Career development in one of Mexico's fastest-growing destination wedding markets
  • Access to Mérida's unique cultural and artisanal vendor community

Work environment

Hacienda and colonial venue wedding coordination in Mérida and the Yucatán metropolitan area. Culturally distinctive destination wedding work in one of Mexico's most architecturally extraordinary cities.

About the role

The couple who got married in the mill hall of a 19th-century henequen hacienda — stone arches, sisal rope décor, Yucatecan fire ceremony, jarana musicians, cochinita pibil for dinner — is going to talk about that wedding for the rest of their lives. The coordinator who put those elements together was working with a vendor community and a cultural knowledge base that almost nobody outside Yucatán has access to. That specificity is irreplaceable.
