Wedding & Events Coordinator — Five-Star Hotel

Five-star business hotel or luxury urban resort, Polanco or Lomas de Chapultepec, Mexico City

Mexico City

MXN 18,000 – 26,000 / monthFull-time, permanent

Fixed monthly + transport support + gratuity income from weddings

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate weddings and social events at a five-star Mexico City hotel: the domestic Mexican wedding market at this level involves 150–400 guests, multi-band or DJ entertainment, elaborate floral design, multi-course formal menus, and the specific ceremonial customs of the Mexican wedding tradition
  • Navigate the Mexican wedding event customs: the lazo (lasso) ceremony, the arras, the wedding dance (vals and second dance choreography), the hora loca, and the subsequent late-night shift in music style all require the coordinator to know the sequence, communicate it to the F&B and entertainment teams, and manage the timing without visible intervention
  • Coordinate the Mexico City luxury vendor market: floral designers, cinematographers, entertainment acts (mariachi, banda, live orchestra, DJ combinations), and catering teams for events at this scale are among the best in the country — and the most expensive and most in demand
  • Manage altitude-specific logistics: at 2,240m, outdoor events and physical setup require adapted planning; catering teams confirm cooking temperature adjustments; beverage service (especially sparkling wine and carbonated drinks) requires specific handling protocols
  • Handle CDMX seismic protocol documentation: the Mexico City hotel's events department maintains seismic emergency procedures that must be reviewed with all external vendors working in the venue; the coordinator confirms and documents this compliance
  • Manage concurrent weddings and corporate events in a large hotel property: five-star CDMX hotels may host 3–5 events simultaneously across different ballrooms — the coordinator must maintain complete operational separation

Requirements

  • 2+ years events coordination in a Mexico City five-star hotel or comparable luxury venue
  • Deep knowledge of domestic Mexican wedding customs and their sequence
  • Full vendor network in the Mexico City luxury events market
  • Spanish native and English fluency for international corporate and wedding clients
  • Altitude-related logistics awareness specific to CDMX event operations

Benefits

  • IMSS, aguinaldo, paid vacation + premium
  • Transport support MXN 600/month
  • Fixed monthly + gratuity income from weddings
  • Hotel dining during shift
  • Career track to Events Manager or Banquet Operations Manager

Work environment

Five-star hotel wedding and events department in Mexico City. High-volume, high-complexity coordination across the domestic Mexican wedding market and corporate events in the country's largest city.

About the role

The Mexico City wedding coordinator who keeps a 350-person reception moving from the vals at 9pm through the hora loca at midnight and into the after-party at 1am — managing three entertainment transitions, a cake ceremony, a toast sequence, and a full ballroom changeover — while the couple dances without a single concern about what comes next — is practicing a kind of live production management that most people in any industry will never experience.
