Wedding Coordinator — Colonial & Rooftop Venue

Boutique hotel with rooftop terrace or colonial event courtyard, San Miguel de Allende Centro

San Miguel de Allende

MXN 17,000 – 24,000 / monthFull-time, permanent

Fixed monthly + gratuity income from SMA wedding parties

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate weddings at San Miguel de Allende's boutique hotels, colonial courtyard venues, and rooftop terrace properties with views of the Parroquia: SMA's wedding venues are almost exclusively boutique — no large ballrooms, no hotel convention centers, no resort-scale capacity — which means each event requires creative use of intimate spaces
  • Navigate SMA's specific logistical constraints: narrow cobblestone streets prevent catering and décor vans from accessing many venues directly — the coordinator plans unloading zones, cart systems, and vendor ingress with properties in advance of each event
  • Manage noise ordinance compliance: SMA's Centro has strict noise ordinances (music cutoff at 11pm in some zones) — entertainment planning, PA system levels, and late-night reception formats must comply; the coordinator coordinates with local authorities for events requiring variance
  • Guide couples through the Parroquia backdrop ceremony options: certain venue terraces and rooftops have direct Parroquia views that are among the most coveted ceremony settings in Mexico — the coordinator understands which venues, which time of day, and which exact camera angle produces the iconic image
  • Coordinate the SMA vendor ecosystem: the city has developed a concentrated community of internationally trained wedding vendors — photographers who specialize in golden-hour SMA light, floral designers using Guanajuato highland botanicals, and caterers with menus that integrate local wine country and artisanal cheese production
  • Manage altitude-related logistics: at 1,870m, outdoor events and physical setup require pace adjustment for vendor teams arriving from lower altitude cities; catering adjustments for altitude baking and cooking temperature are planned in advance

Requirements

  • Destination wedding coordination experience; SMA experience or familiarity with boutique historic venue challenges strongly preferred
  • Creative problem-solving for intimate venue spaces and historic building access constraints
  • English fluency — international wedding clients are a significant market in SMA
  • Knowledge of the SMA boutique vendor landscape
  • Noise ordinance and local authority coordination competency

Benefits

  • IMSS, aguinaldo, paid vacation + premium
  • Fixed monthly + gratuity income (SMA wedding parties tip generously at the boutique level)
  • Career development in one of the world's most photographed wedding destinations
  • Access to SMA's boutique hotel facilities and cultural community

Work environment

Boutique colonial venue and rooftop wedding coordination in San Miguel de Allende's UNESCO World Heritage historic center. Creative, constraints-positive coordination work in Mexico's most iconic destination wedding city.

About the role

The wedding at a SMA rooftop terrace where the Parroquia spires are framed perfectly at golden hour — 40 guests, a string quartet, a dinner of regional Guanajuato cuisine with local wine, and dancing until the noise ordinance kicks in — is the event that fills SMA wedding photographers' Instagram with views that generate the next 20 couple inquiries. The coordinator who makes that happen also made it happen within the historic center's access constraints, the venue's narrow staircase, and the city's 11pm music cutoff. Both are true simultaneously.
